Dear Families,
I hope you’re having a wonderful day! I wanted to share an important update about our grading process.
Our school is transitioning to a standards-based grading system. Instead of traditional percentage or letter grades, student progress will now be measured on a 0–4 scale, based on how well students demonstrate mastery of the Missouri Learning Standards. This new system focuses on what your child knows and can do, rather than on compliance, participation, or extra credit.
You may not see grades posted yet—this is because we are still in the process of switching over to this system. Thank you for your patience! We expect grades to begin appearing around the first week of September.
We’re excited about this change because it allows for clearer, more consistent feedback on your child’s academic growth. To make this work well, every classroom is aligning to the same standards so that all students and families receive a consistent message:
Mastery is about what you know and can do.
Engagement is about how you show up to learn.
Both matter—but they will now be reported separately. This helps us celebrate both your child’s academic progress and their efforts and habits of learning, without one outweighing the other.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions—I’m here to support you and your family.
